Thin Client Solutions
Lowering costs and simplifying your IT infrastructure with thin client technology
With a thin client system, the majority of the processing power takes place away from the user. The client simply sends keystrokes and mouse movements to a server and the server sends back changes in the display. This allows low-cost terminals to be used with no hard drive and minimal memory.
The benefits of thin client technology
Businesses of all types and from any sector, are faced with issues such as:
- The cost of upgrading and replacing desktops
- The continually increasing complexity of network security
- The accessibility of data for mobile and remote workers, even over poor communication links
- The support of software on a diverse range of hardware
Thin client technology addresses all of these issues.
How thin client solutions work
As thin clients do not contain a hard drive or store any applications or data, all the processing is done by a central server. The thin client connects to the server via the internet or remote desktop software. Therefore, unlike traditional desktops and notebooks, thin clients are not affected by viruses and malware, and they are easy to replace if lost or damaged and more cost effective to run and support.
Thin clients can range from simple, single-application devices to more complex Windows environments. And, because of the simplicity of their design, a new thin client can be set up in just a few minutes, enabling rapid deployment to new users and remote locations.
Experts in thin client technology
Our thin client expertise is based around both Windows Terminal Services 2008 and all the latest Citrix technologies. We have a wide experience of such solutions from implementations of single Terminal Server solutions through to multiple load balanced Terminal Server and Citrix Presentation Manager Infrastructures.
Experienced in the deployment of thin client technology, CIT have deployed secure solutions for businesses requiring access to remote offices, as well as enabling mobile users and home-workers to access central IT facilities.
