Complete I.T. believe strongly in the importance of building relationships and getting to know our clients, as well as them getting to know us.

With that in mind, we asked Mark to answer a few questions to give you the chance to get to know one of our fantastic Technical Consultants. Mark joined Complete I.T. just over a year ago and has become a vital part of both our team and an asset to the clients’ that he supports.

How have you found your Complete I.T. journey so far?

Working at CIT has helped my organisational skills because of the structure to my role, site visits and general day to day activities. I have also never worked anywhere which takes so much pride in what they do, not only in the service provided to clients but also in our team with the training, well-being and personal development that is made available to us. Before Complete I.T., never did I have my Manager phone me just to ask “how are you doing? Is there anything you need? Can I help you with anything?”.

I enjoy visiting clients because the relationship is there and so is the trust – now that I’m fully integrated in my clients’ teams I can start to make a real difference and help them to develop their IT to better support their businesses, and that reflects in the feedback I receive during client update meetings.

What made you choose a career in IT?

When I left school in the early 90s we were at war with Iraq, the IRA were still bombing London and the Internet and Email wasn’t around, IT was a very different world. I was not an academic person, but very practical.

In all honesty, I had very little choice, in the end it came down to joining the Army or trying a new apprenticeship course on computers. Much to my Mum’s relief I chose the Computer Apprenticeship or YTS as it was commonly known.

This set me on a path with many ups and downs; from Internet start-ups to designing new infrastructures from scratch, I’ve done it all – but the one thing I learnt from a young age was talking to people face to face is the best way to get people engaged in IT.

What are your passions outside of IT?

I’ve been married for 12 years and have two amazing boys aged 5 and 10, each bringing their own challenges to life. My eldest Harry has Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), he loves his music and gaming. His brother is far too smart for his own good and tends to tease Harry because he knows just what “buttons to push”, even with these difficulties Harry is top of his class at Mathematics and his mental arithmetic never ceases to amaze me.
