At Complete I.T. we take the career aspirations of our team seriously, every Personal Development Review has a career planning discussion included, and this is revisited at each monthly one to one meeting with the Manager, but sometimes there’s a need to build some specific activity to help meet our team’s aspirations.
Making the move from working on our Helpdesk to one of our field based Technical Consultant roles is quite a common aspiration, and a number of our team are keen to make this step. In order to make sure we meet their goal, we have developed a 12 month development programme to ‘Build a TC’, giving them the knowledge and skills to take a Technical Consultant role when one is available.
The team members on the programme are receiving eleven separate training courses across both technical and soft skills, carrying out observations with existing Technical Consultants, and tapping into the support of a mentor that has been provided to them. By the end of the 12 months they will be fully equipped to take a TC role and be successful from day one, which is great news for Complete I.T. and the team members on the programme.
