Happy New Year! We hope you all enjoyed your time over the festive period and the start of your year is going swell as you move on from the buzz of Christmas and get back into the swing of things.
Have you made any New Year’s Resolutions for your organisation regarding Cyber Security? If not, that’s where we come in to kickstart you with some actions you can take now to ensure you have a safe and secure 2022:
1. Change Your Password
Weak passwords are one of the main issues to blame when it comes to security breaches, especially for SMEs. Did you know that on average, it takes a hacker one minute to hack a seven-character password? With this in mind, why don’t you test your knowledge and take our password quiz to see if you know how to create a strong and secure password. Use your results of the quiz to help determine if and when you need to update your password.
2. Get Your Cyber Essentials Accreditation
We have recently achieved our Cyber Essential Plus Certification for another year, and this could be you too! Cyber Essentials is a self-assessment, which shows you what you should be focusing on to help protect your organisation against common cyber attacks. The certification will help provide peace of mind that you have the relevant defences in place to help prevent your organisation from falling victim to the ever-evolving cyber crime. Find out how we can help get your organisation Cyber Essentials certified.
3. Enable 2FA or MFA
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an important layer of protection to all of your logins. Be sure to enable 2FA or MFA (Multi-factor authentication) on all your accounts to help prevent imposters from gaining access. We always recommend a multi-layered approach when it comes to cyber security and this is one of them. Read here to learn more about 2FA and why you need it.
4. Watch One of Our Cyber Security Webinars
We have a host of informative content in the Knowledge Hub section of our website. Why don’t you make it one of your goals to watch one of our handy webinars and share it with your team. Our Cyber Security webinars include our recent ‘Evolution of the Cyber Threat Landscape’ webinar with industry leaders from Datto and ConnectWise, as well as ‘How have SMEs embraced technology and adapted to the ‘new normal’?’ and many more. Block out 45 minutes of your day and discover if you learn something new from one of our webinars.
You can add these resolutions to your own list, on top of ‘getting fitter and doing more exercise’ which is reported to be one of the top New Year’s Resolutions that people made this year. Let’s have a great and safe year.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss your approach to cyber security and we will happily advise you on the steps you can take.
